Lighting Industry Terminology Collection
I have spent a lot of time and energy, and now I have sorted out all the professional terms of our lighting industry as follows.
Diffuse transmission:
the macroscopic angle is the kind of transmission without regular transmission.
Diffuse:
the change in the spatial light distribution that occurs when a light beam is changed to multiple directions by a surface or medium without changing the frequency of its monochromatic light.
Diffuse lighting:
there is no illumination on the work surface or on the illuminated object that clearly comes from light in a particular direction.
Vision:
the eye is adapted to vision at a brightness of at least a few candelas per square meter. Bright vision is mainly regulated by cones.
Solid angle:
the angle at which the center of a sphere of unit radius extends to the projected area on the surface of the sphere. Unit: sphere, sr
phosphorescence:
light that is generated by photoluminescence after excitation and can last for a certain period of time.
Lumens:
The unit of luminous flux is equal to the luminous flux of a uniform light source with a light intensity of 1cd into the unit solid angle.
tungsten halogen lamp:
gas-filled tungsten filament bulbs containing halogen or halogen compounds.
Halogen lamps:
A gas-filled lamp containing a tungsten filament and a small amount of halogen.
Utilization factor:
the ratio of the luminous flux utilized to the luminous flux emitted by the lamp
cold start light source:
A discharge lamp that can be started without preheating the electrodes.
Brightness (L):
the brightness of a light source in a certain direction is the luminous flux emitted by the light source in a unit projection area, a unit solid angle, in that direction. Unit: cd/m2
luminance coefficient (q):
the brightness per unit of illumination in a given viewing direction and in a given direction of light incidence. Unit cd/m2/lx
brightness Contrast (c):
in the visual area, the brightness contrast can be expressed as the difference in relative brightness: C =(L1-L2)/L2
The area size of the two parts of brightness comparison is different:
l1: Indicates the brightness of a small area such as an illuminated object.
L2: Indicates the brightness of a large surface area such as the background
luminance domain value:
the minimum brightness that can be perceived.
Brightness distribution curve:
A curve that characterizes the brightness of a luminaire in a vertical plane, where the brightness is characterized as a function of the angle from the vertical.
Brightness reduction factor (r):
the product of the luminaire coefficient (q) and cos3g, where g is the angle of incidence of the light.
Brightness production factor:
the ratio of average brightness to average illumination in a road lighting system.
Threshold comparison:
the eye adapts to the minimum perceptible contrast in a given state.
Threshold Delta (TI):
A number indicating the degree to which the disability glare is controlled.
Spatial factor (K):
represents the geometry of the room and is used to calculate the coefficient of utilization or the coefficient of luminous flux utilization.
Quick Start:

the starting mode in which the lamp is ignited by preheating the filament.
switch start type fluorescent lamp:
suitable for circuit-operated fluorescent lamps with preheated electrode starters. For example 'TL'D.
Visible radiation:
any radiation that causes a visual sensation.
Spacing:
installation, the distance between the centers of two consecutive luminaires.
Indirect lighting:
lighting with a certain light distribution curve is used for lighting, so that the light directly reaching the working surface does not exceed 10 of the total light without considering the boundary of the working surface.
Indirect light:
the luminous flux that reaches the illuminated surface after being reflected by each reflective surface in the illumination system.
Mirror Factor:
A factor that represents the degree of specular reflection of the road surface.
Specular reflector:
that portion of the luminaire that is designed to use specular reflection to reflect the light flux of the light source in the desired direction.
metal vapor discharge lamp:
discharge lamps that generate light mainly from metal vapor, like mercury vapor lamps, sodium vapor lamps, and the like.
metal halide lamp:
A light source that generates radiation primarily by excitation of mixed metal vapors (such as mercury) and various halogen compounds (such as thallium, indium, and sodium halides). For example: HPI-T light source
spotlight:
A light projector (small) is used to concentrate the emission in the beam at an angle of 20 °. Local lighting
illuminate the designated area with high illuminance, often used for the lighting of the working surface.
Uniform Chromaticity Scale (UCS) Chart:
two-dimensional coordinate chart: the coordinate definition is such that the coordinate spacing on the entire chromaticity diagram is as equal as possible to the color difference step of the color stimulus of the same brightness.
Staggered light:
road lighting arrangement, where the lamps are alternately placed on both sides of the driveway.
Blackbody:
A heat radiating body that completely absorbs all incident light rays for different wavelengths, incident directions, or polarizations.

the chromaticity diagram represents the chromaticity curve of a black body (Planck radiator) at different temperatures.
Glow discharge:
the secondary emission of the cathode is a much stronger form of discharge than the thermionic emission.
Infrared radiation:
optical radiation having a wavelength greater than that of visible radiation.
Mixed Transmission:
mixture of regular and diffuse transmission.
Mixed reflection:
is a mixture of regular reflection and diffuse reflection.
Mixed lamps:
the bulb contains both a high-pressure mercury vapor discharge tube and an incandescent filament, and is connected in series with a light source, such as an ML lamp. The bulb can be diffusive or coated with fluorescent material.
Arc discharge:
A form of discharge with a relatively low cathode potential drop compared to a glow discharge.
Arc:
A high intensity luminescent discharge formed by the current flowing through the space between the two electrodes.
Environmental factors:
the ratio of the average illuminance on a sidewalk of a certain width to the average illuminance on a lane of equal width.
High frequency operation:
generally refers to the electronic ballast at 20 to 60 kilohertz (kHz), that is, 20000 to 60000 times per second working state.
High Pressure Sodium (Vapor) Lamps:
the partial pressure of sodium vapor during ignition is on the order of 104Pa. For example, SON and SON-T type lamps.
High Pressure Mercury (Vapor) Lamps:
the partial pressure of mercury vapor in the ignition process of mercury vapor discharge lamps with or without phosphor is on the order of 105 Pa. For example: HPL and HPL-N type lamps.
high power factor ballast:
ballasts with higher power factor than 0.90.
Regular (or specular) reflection:
reflection without diffusion obeys the laws of geometric optics; it is like reflection caused by a mirror.
Regular (or direct) transfer:
there is no diffusion of transmission, subject to the laws of geometric optics.
Grille: with translucent or opaque material as a shield, through the geometric design so that in a given range of angles can hide the light source.
rod cells: photoreceptor cells on the retina, including the photochrome that initiates the process of scotopic vision. Rod cells may not be involved in color stimulus discrimination.
Sensory color: A kind of visual sensation, the ability of an observer to distinguish the same size, shape, structure, etc. in an observation environment with different radiation.
Perceived speed: the reciprocal of the minimum exposure time required for the object to be detected.
